The question is “How can you create your own hair barrette?”. There are two materials you can use: glue or twine. Glue is an adhesive material used for connecting two or more objects while a twine is a strong cord or string that is made of two or more threads being twisted together. For smaller barrettes, fabric or hot glue should be used. Before you apply the glue, you must roughen the surface first to allow better adherence. The glue should be used sparingly so as to avoid having it snag on the hair while worn. It is well that you do a trial and find out if the glue you will use will adhere efficiently to all other materials for the barrette.

If you do not opt for glue, you can use a clear twine as its alternative. This twine if best used for larger barrettes. To add to the decoration, you can attach some small embellishment on the barrette with the use of glue. Most of barrettes have loops of ribbon. These loops can be cut or uncut and can run the entire length of barrette. Ribbon that is wire- edged is the best option because it is the easiest one to shape. You can also opt for stiff ribbons most especially if you are decorating a smaller style of hair barrette.

With enough creativity, you can play with different ribbons of various sizes and colors to make beautiful barrettes for yourself. Keep in mind that it is good to use two or more colorful ribbons for one barrette. Aside from ribbons, you can make use of other accents such as pearls, diamonds, beads, flowers and the like. All these embellishment can make you barrette much more attractive. What you should bear in mind is that do not include other accessories that can be harmful to little girls and even women.
